Hey, viewers! Today’s news is for those who want an update about the latest happenings of Anonymous Group.

Anonymous Group is in the headlines again and this time for the two acts. On one side, a member of Anonymous has been presented in the court with the allegation of “HeartBleed pen test” by the Australian Government. And, on the other end in Austin they have initiated a cyber war against “The Daily Dot” (The online news website).

Here comes complete explanation of the both news from Australia and Austin!

Case 1:

In Australia, one of the anonymous members, Adam Bennett was presented to the court on 11th March. The court hearing was regarding the judgment of Australian Associated Press Telecommunication (AAPT) and Indonesian government website hacking case.

About the case:

Adam Bennett A.K.A. Lorax, who was well known for his Internet radio show “Anonymous LoraxLive,” was arrested last year by the Australian Federal Police. He supposedly hacked into AAPT Telecommunications and Indonesian government websites in 2012.

Lorax is supposedly being a part of the investigation since 2010 and reportedly leads the recent hack. The AAPT and Indonesian Government website hacking made his arrest last year.

About the hack:

The Australian government had planned to pass a security law according to which ISP is required to store their user activity for two year’s duration. But the Hacker took out the data from the server and reviled the hack with a demonstration as if trusted and secure ISP like AAPT is unable to store the data securely. Then, it is even not possible to secure the data under the proposed security laws.

On March 11, Adam Bennett was presented to the court and finally came to know about the allegations charged on him.

One of the criminal charges alleged on the Bennett was “Heartbleed Vulnerability Penetration Testing for Cancer Support W.A. 2014”. He builds the test while he was working on the server at his place of employment i.e. Cancer Support W.A. The test that he makes for the organization put the CRM at high risk.

Case 2:

On the other hand in Austin, Anonymous Group has waged a cyber war against the Daily Dot. Daily Dot is an online news website that focuses on the Internet community topics and viral videos.

Anonymous boycotted Daily Dot for publishing two articles related to Anonymous group. The Daily Dot” published the movie review about “blackhat” and “CSI: Cyber” on January 18 and March 4 and related them to the anonymous group.

Anonymous viewed the articles as a disloyalty of the news website that it has supported steadily and launched “Operation Destroy Daily Dot” in response.

Anonymous said in a video published Monday on  Twitter, “Anonymous does not attack media nor does it censor it. However, there are various ways to hold those who build their media empires and careers on the backs of movements, actions and individuals accountable”.

“Operation Destroy Daily Dot is a boycott action. Given that Daily Dot was given its credibility, celebrity and wealth on the back of Anonymous and our operations, we seek to destroy it in the same manner it rose”, Anonymous said.

In response, Daily Dot said, “The Daily Dot does not necessarily agree with or endorse the views in each story it publishes.” “As a news organization, our job is to illuminate dark corners and share a variety of perspectives,” Daily Dot added.
